As New Year’s Eve celebrations approach, Delhi Police has issued a detailed traffic advisory outlining restrictions, diversions, and parking arrangements across the city. The measures are aimed at ensuring public safety, managing large gatherings, and maintaining smooth traffic flow during one of the busiest nights of the year.
According to the advisory, traffic restrictions will be enforced in several key areas that are expected to witness heavy footfall, including popular markets, entertainment hubs, and central districts. Vehicular movement may be regulated or restricted in these areas during peak hours, particularly in the evening and late night. Commuters have been urged to cooperate with traffic personnel and adhere to the instructions displayed on signboards and announced through public alerts.
Delhi Police has also planned multiple traffic diversions to manage congestion. These diversions will be implemented based on real-time traffic conditions and crowd movement. Motorists are advised to remain patient and follow alternative routes suggested by traffic authorities. The use of navigation apps and official traffic updates is recommended to avoid delays.
Special parking arrangements have been made near major celebration zones. Unauthorized parking on roadsides and restricted areas will be strictly monitored, and vehicles found violating rules may be towed. Authorities have encouraged people to use public transport, including the Delhi Metro and buses, to reduce traffic load and ensure a safer travel experience.
To strengthen enforcement, additional traffic personnel will be deployed at major intersections, entry points, and public gathering spots. Police teams will also conduct checks for drunk driving, overspeeding, and other traffic violations. Emergency response teams and ambulances will remain on standby to handle any unforeseen situations.
Pedestrian safety has also been given priority, with barricades and designated walking paths set up in crowded areas. Traffic police will coordinate with local police stations to ensure crowd control and smooth movement throughout the night.
Delhi Police has appealed to the public to celebrate responsibly and avoid unnecessary travel during late hours. Citizens have been advised to follow traffic rules, avoid driving under the influence of alcohol, and respect the safety measures put in place.
The advisory will remain in effect throughout New Year’s Eve and into the early hours of New Year’s Day. Authorities have stated that these steps are necessary to ensure that celebrations remain safe and orderly, allowing residents and visitors to welcome the New Year without inconvenience or risk.
