Prime Minister Narendra Modi met with visiting US Senator JD Vance to strengthen the India-US strategic partnership with a particular focus on advanced technology, defense cooperation, and shared global interests. The meeting was held at a time when both nations are deepening their collaborations in innovation, security, and global diplomacy.
The interaction reflected the mutual desire to further develop strategic synergies in high-impact sectors such as artificial intelligence, semiconductor manufacturing, cyber security, space exploration, and next-generation defense systems.
“India and the United States are natural allies in promoting peace, progress, and prosperity in the Indo-Pacific and beyond,” Prime Minister Modi said following the discussions.
Senator JD Vance, a key member of the US Senate Armed Services Committee, emphasized the importance of maintaining a strong Indo-US partnership in an evolving global order. He praised India’s emergence as a major technology and defense hub and reiterated the US's commitment to working closely with India on issues of mutual concern, including regional stability and economic development.
The leaders also exchanged views on current geopolitical challenges, including developments in the Indo-Pacific, and underlined the importance of maintaining a free, open, and rules-based international order. They discussed efforts to enhance defence trade, joint military exercises, and collaboration in critical technologies.
Another area of focus was building resilient supply chains in sectors like semiconductors and rare earth materials—key components for both nations’ economic and technological security.
“By working together in defense innovation and tech manufacturing, we are not just securing our own interests but contributing to global security,” Senator Vance said during a joint press interaction.
The leaders also touched upon education and talent exchange programs. India’s vast pool of skilled tech professionals and students continues to play a vital role in the US innovation ecosystem. Plans for expanding academic partnerships and startup collaborations were also discussed.
The meeting reflects a broader strategic vision to elevate India-US ties into a comprehensive global partnership. Both leaders acknowledged the importance of people-to-people ties, business engagement, and innovation-driven growth as cornerstones of bilateral cooperation.
Prime Minister Modi concluded the meeting by expressing confidence that India-US relations will continue to set new benchmarks in the 21st century, driven by mutual trust, strategic alignment, and a shared commitment to democracy and development.
This high-level engagement comes ahead of scheduled meetings between Indian and US officials on defense procurement and digital trade policies, expected to be held in Washington later this year.
