Meanwhile, in a parallel political development, Union Home Minister Amit Shah held a meeting with Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah in the national capital.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday welcomed United Arab Emirates President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan in New Delhi, underlining the strong and evolving strategic partnership between India and the UAE. The visit reflects the growing diplomatic, economic, and security cooperation between the two nations, which has deepened significantly in recent years through frequent high-level exchanges and bilateral agreements.

The Prime Minister’s reception of the UAE President was seen as a significant diplomatic gesture, highlighting the importance India places on its ties with the Gulf nation. The UAE remains one of India’s key partners in trade, investment, energy security, and people-to-people relations. The visit is expected to further strengthen cooperation across sectors, including infrastructure, renewable energy, defence, and technology.

Meanwhile, in a parallel political development, Union Home Minister Amit Shah held a meeting with Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah in the national capital. The meeting was confirmed by the Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister’s Office through a post on X, stating that the leaders met to discuss various matters concerning the Union Territory.

Sources familiar with the discussions indicated that several pressing issues were taken up during the meeting. These included recent attacks targeting residents of Jammu and Kashmir, with a particular focus on the safety and security of traders and students from the Union Territory living in other parts of the country. The leaders also discussed steps needed to ensure better protection and coordination between state and central authorities in addressing such incidents.

Another key topic of discussion was the upcoming Union Budget and its implications for Jammu and Kashmir. Developmental priorities, infrastructure projects, and financial support for the Union Territory are understood to have been part of the conversation. The Chief Minister reportedly highlighted the need for adequate budgetary allocations to support economic growth, employment generation, and public welfare initiatives in the region.

The condition and welfare of prisoners from Jammu and Kashmir lodged in prisons across other states was also raised during the meeting. The issue has been a long-standing concern, with the UT administration seeking better monitoring and humane treatment of inmates, as well as improved communication between authorities.

The meeting between Amit Shah and Omar Abdullah is seen as part of ongoing engagement between the Centre and the Jammu and Kashmir administration on governance, security, and development-related matters. It comes at a time when the region continues to navigate political, social, and economic challenges while working towards long-term stability and growth.

Both sides are expected to maintain continued dialogue on these issues, with further discussions likely in the coming weeks as policy decisions and budgetary planning progress at the national level.
