New Delhi witnessed a prestigious event as President Droupadi Murmu presented the MY Bharat National Service Scheme Awards for 2022-23 at Rashtrapati Bhavan. The ceremony celebrated the dedication and achievements of students, volunteers, and institutions that have made remarkable contributions to social service and community development under the National Service Scheme.
The MY Bharat NSS Awards recognize individuals and organizations for their exemplary work in areas such as education, health, environmental conservation, disaster management, and social awareness campaigns. These awards serve to encourage young volunteers to continue their efforts in nation-building and to inspire others to actively participate in community service initiatives.
During the event, President Murmu congratulated the awardees for their outstanding commitment to social welfare and highlighted the significance of youth engagement in shaping a responsible and compassionate society. She emphasized that the active participation of students in service-oriented programs helps instill values of empathy, leadership, and teamwork while addressing pressing social issues.
The award ceremony saw participation from students, educators, NSS coordinators, and dignitaries from across India. Each awardee shared their experiences and the impact of their projects on local communities. Initiatives included health camps, literacy drives, environmental conservation programs, awareness campaigns on sanitation and hygiene, and support for marginalized groups. The diversity and scale of these projects underscored the pivotal role played by NSS volunteers in promoting inclusive growth and social equity.
President Murmu lauded the efforts of volunteers who went beyond academic commitments to serve society, particularly during challenging times such as natural disasters and the ongoing public health initiatives. She highlighted that such service strengthens the nation’s social fabric and empowers citizens to contribute meaningfully to the community.
The Rashtrapati Bhavan ceremony also included cultural performances by NSS students, reflecting the spirit of teamwork, discipline, and unity that forms the essence of the program. Awardees received certificates, medals, and citations, symbolizing national recognition of their dedication and service.

The MY Bharat NSS Awards serve to motivate volunteers to sustain their efforts and inspire new participants to embrace service-oriented projects.
Officials from the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, along with educational institutions, emphasized that the awards reinforce the importance of social responsibility, civic engagement, and the role of young citizens in driving positive change.
