Indian Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw has refuted claims that the introduction of Vande Bharat sleeper trains is being delayed due to design-related issues. Speaking to the media, Vaishnaw assured that the development of the sleeper variant of the Vande Bharat train is progressing as planned, and there are no significant setbacks in its design or manufacturing.

The Vande Bharat Express, a high-speed train designed to modernize India’s rail network, has already become a symbol of the government's push towards improving rail transport. Following the success of the semi-high-speed Vande Bharat trains, the sleeper version is highly anticipated as it promises to provide a more comfortable and efficient long-distance travel experience.

Reports circulating in the media had suggested that the sleeper variant of the Vande Bharat Express was facing delays due to unresolved design issues. Some sources pointed to challenges in creating a design that would meet the needs of long-haul passengers while maintaining the high standards of comfort and efficiency that Vande Bharat is known for. However, Vaishnaw dismissed these concerns, stating that the design process is moving forward as expected and the sleeper train’s introduction will happen in due course.

The Railway Minister explained that the sleeper version of the Vande Bharat train is undergoing a rigorous process of testing and fine-tuning to ensure that it meets the required safety standards and passenger comfort. The train’s design is being adjusted to incorporate sleeping berths, better space utilization, and enhanced amenities, all while adhering to the high-speed specifications that the Vande Bharat model is known for.

Vaishnaw’s remarks come amid growing interest in the Vande Bharat sleeper trains, which are expected to revolutionize long-distance travel in India. The introduction of these trains is seen as a significant step towards modernizing the Indian Railways, making it more competitive with air travel, and improving passenger satisfaction.

In addition to addressing concerns over the sleeper version, the Railway Minister reiterated the government’s commitment to upgrading the country's rail infrastructure. He mentioned that the Vande Bharat project is part of a broader initiative to modernize India’s rail network, which includes new high-speed corridors, better stations, and enhanced passenger services.

Vaishnaw also pointed out that the sleeper version of the Vande Bharat train will be launched in phases, with the first prototypes expected to be ready soon. Once operational, the Vande Bharat sleeper trains will offer a faster, more comfortable, and technologically advanced alternative for long-distance journeys across the country.

The Minister's statement is expected to reassure the public and industry stakeholders that the Vande Bharat sleeper train program is on track, with the rollout of the sleeper version of the high-speed train set to be one of the key milestones in the ongoing modernization of the Indian Railways.
