Police sources said that Pushkar attracts a large number of international visitors, and maintaining law and order is a priority.

The Rajasthan Police Criminal Investigation Department has issued “leave India” notices to two British nationals after they were found allegedly pasting political posters in public areas of Pushkar. According to officials, the posters contained messages such as Free Palestine and Boycott Israel, which were deemed to be political in nature and in violation of the conditions attached to tourist visas.

The incident came to light after local residents and authorities noticed posters displayed on walls and other public spaces in Pushkar, a popular tourist destination in Ajmer district. Following complaints, the matter was referred to the CID, which initiated an inquiry into the activities of the two foreign tourists. Officials confirmed that the individuals were visiting India on tourist visas, which strictly prohibit participation in political campaigns, demonstrations, or activism.

Under Indian visa regulations, foreign nationals entering the country on tourist visas are allowed to travel, sightsee, and engage in cultural activities. However, they are not permitted to take part in political activities or express political views in public spaces. Authorities stated that pasting posters related to an international political issue amounted to a clear violation of these rules.

After verifying the details, the CID issued notices directing the two British tourists to leave the country. Officials clarified that the action was administrative in nature and aimed at ensuring compliance with visa norms. No criminal charges have been filed so far, but the authorities have emphasized that visa violations are taken seriously, especially when they involve sensitive political matters.

Police sources said that Pushkar attracts a large number of international visitors, and maintaining law and order is a priority. They added that political messaging by foreign nationals can potentially disturb communal harmony or lead to public unrest, which is why strict action is taken in such cases. The posters were removed soon after they were discovered, and no major law and order issue was reported in the area.

The incident has once again highlighted the importance of foreign visitors understanding and respecting local laws while travelling in India. Officials reiterated that while India welcomes tourists from across the world, all visitors are expected to adhere to visa conditions and avoid activities that fall outside the permitted scope.

Authorities have not disclosed further personal details of the tourists, citing privacy concerns. The British High Commission has also been informed about the action taken, as per standard procedure. The case serves as a reminder that tourist visas are meant strictly for leisure and travel purposes and not for political expression or activism.
