Defence Minister Rajnath Singh has called on private players to take a proactive role in the development of India's defence sector. Speaking at a recent event, Singh underscored the significance of increasing collaboration between the government and private industries to foster innovation and enhance the country's self-reliance in defence manufacturing.
He stressed that private sector involvement is crucial for achieving the government's goal of making India a global manufacturing hub for defence equipment. Singh pointed out that public-private partnerships could accelerate the production of advanced military technologies and equipment, which are essential for national security.
Additionally, the Defence Minister encouraged private companies to invest in research and development, noting that innovation will play a vital role in transforming the defence landscape in India. By leveraging the capabilities of the private sector, Singh believes that India can not only meet its own defence needs but also emerge as a significant exporter of defence products.
Singh's remarks come as part of the government's broader initiative to boost domestic defence production and reduce dependence on foreign imports. The Defence Ministry is actively working to create a more conducive environment for private players, including simplifying regulatory frameworks and providing financial incentives.
