In a major legal development, the Supreme Court has set aside a Chhattisgarh High Court order and directed the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) to take over the probe into the mysterious death of the wife of an Additional District Judge (ADJ) in Chhattisgarh. The case, which has been surrounded by allegations of foul play, will now be investigated by the CBI to ensure a comprehensive and unbiased investigation.
The incident, which took place under suspicious circumstances, had earlier been investigated by local authorities. However, concerns were raised regarding the impartiality of the investigation, prompting the family of the deceased to seek the intervention of higher courts. The High Court initially dismissed the plea for a CBI investigation, citing a lack of sufficient grounds. Dissatisfied with the decision, the family approached the Supreme Court, which has now stepped in to ensure justice is served.
The Supreme Court, while overturning the High Court’s order, emphasized the need for a fair and independent investigation given the sensitive nature of the case involving a judicial officer's family. The CBI has been tasked with carrying out a fresh investigation to ascertain the exact cause of death and determine if there was any foul play involved.
This ruling underscores the Supreme Court’s commitment to upholding justice, especially in cases where public confidence in local investigations is at stake. The case has attracted significant attention due to the involvement of a judge's family, raising questions about potential motives and the transparency of previous investigations. With the CBI now in charge, the court hopes to bring clarity to the case and deliver justice to the affected family.
