On the occasion of Kisan Diwas, Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar and Union Minister Jayant Chaudhary paid tribute to former Prime Minister Chaudhary Charan Singh at Kisan Ghat in Delhi. The day, which marks the birth anniversary of Charan Singh, is observed annually as Kisan Diwas to honor his contributions to the agricultural sector and rural development.
In his address, Vice President Dhankhar expressed his respect for farmers across the country, stating, “I pay my respect to all the farmers of the country on the occasion of the birth anniversary of Chaudhary Charan Singh. A right decision was taken in 2001 when it was decided to observe Kisan Diwas.” He highlighted the late leader’s dedication to the development of farmers, villages, and the nation as a whole.
Chaudhary Charan Singh’s relentless efforts in advocating for farmers’ rights and rural development earned him the title of “Champion of Farmers.” His legacy continues to guide India’s agricultural policies, and Kisan Diwas serves as a reminder of the importance of supporting farmers and rural communities.
The tribute at Kisan Ghat also included a reflection on Charan Singh’s impact on the nation’s agricultural progress and the recognition of the significant role farmers play in India’s economy. Both Dhankhar and Chaudhary emphasized that Kisan Diwas not only honors Charan Singh’s legacy but also encourages continued efforts toward improving the welfare of India’s farmers.
