External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar recently participated in the first Quad meeting under the leadership of President Donald Trump 2.0, held in Washington. This high-level diplomatic gathering saw Jaishankar emphasize the critical role of the Quad—comprising India, the United States, Japan, and Australia—as a "force for global good."
The meeting underscored the bloc’s shared vision of promoting peace, stability, and prosperity in the Indo-Pacific region. In his address, Jaishankar discussed the importance of expanding regional cooperation to address pressing global challenges, such as climate change, security concerns, and economic recovery in the post-pandemic era.
The Quad has increasingly gained importance as a strategic partnership to counter growing global uncertainties and bolster regional security. With the U.S. re-engaging with its allies and partners under the Trump administration, the collaboration between these four democracies has gained momentum, highlighting their commitment to a free, open, and inclusive Indo-Pacific.
S. Jaishankar’s participation in this historic meeting reflects India’s active role in shaping the international order and reinforcing its position as a key player in global affairs. The meeting not only marked a new phase in the Quad’s evolution but also reinforced the shared values of democracy, mutual respect, and shared prosperity. As the Quad's influence continues to grow, India remains a pivotal force in advancing its collective objectives for a peaceful and secure world.
