Mahindra and Mahindra has reported strong sales performance for September 2026, supported by continued demand for its utility vehicle and SUV portfolio. The company recorded a 14 percent year on year increase in domestic utility vehicle sales during the month, with sales reaching 64,092 units compared with 56,233 units in September 2025.
The September sales performance comes as Mahindra continues to strengthen its presence in the Indian SUV market. Its portfolio includes models such as the Thar Roxx, Scorpio N, Bolero, XUV 3XO, XUV700 and other SUV offerings. The Thar Roxx and Scorpio N are among the company’s prominent products in the SUV segment, while the Bolero continues to serve customers looking for a utility focused vehicle.
It is important to distinguish the company’s SUV sales growth from its overall automobile sales. Mahindra sold 64,092 utility vehicles in the domestic market during September 2026, representing a 14 percent increase over the 56,233 units sold in the corresponding month of 2025. Total vehicle sales, which include commercial vehicles, three wheelers and exports, stood at 1,14,874 units. This represented a 15 percent year on year increase from 1,00,298 units in September 2025.
The company’s domestic utility vehicle performance also remained positive on a cumulative basis. Between April and September 2026, Mahindra sold 3,58,142 utility vehicles in the domestic market. This was 20 percent higher than the 2,97,570 units recorded during the same period of the previous year.
Mahindra’s SUV range has become an important part of its passenger vehicle business. The Thar Roxx offers a five door SUV format, while the Scorpio N caters to buyers looking for a larger SUV with three row seating. The Bolero continues to have a distinct position in Mahindra’s utility vehicle portfolio. However, Mahindra’s September sales announcement does not provide a model wise sales breakup for individual models such as the Thar Roxx, Scorpio N and Bolero. Therefore, the 14 percent growth should be understood as growth for the overall domestic utility vehicle segment rather than as a combined figure attributed specifically to these three models.
Mahindra also reported progress in its electric SUV business. According to the company, it crossed the milestone of 1 lakh billing for its Electric Origin SUVs since their launch. The company’s electric SUV portfolio includes models developed specifically around its electric vehicle architecture. The milestone indicates the growing contribution of Mahindra’s electric SUV products to its overall automotive business.
The company’s commercial vehicle business also recorded growth during September. Domestic sales of commercial vehicles stood at 30,420 units, representing a 14 percent year on year increase. Light commercial vehicles below two tonnes recorded growth, while the two tonne to 3.5 tonne category also registered higher sales compared with September 2025. Three wheeler sales, including electric three wheelers, increased 26 percent year on year to 16,343 units.
Mahindra’s exports, however, moved in the opposite direction during the month. Exports stood at 4,019 units in September 2026, compared with 4,320 units in September 2025, representing a 7 percent decline. Despite the monthly decline, cumulative exports for April to September 2026 were higher than the corresponding period of the previous year.
The September numbers come at an important period for the Indian automobile industry, as manufacturers enter the festive sales season. Mahindra has several SUV models competing across different price and size segments, giving the company a broad product portfolio in one of the fastest growing areas of the Indian passenger vehicle market.
The Thar Roxx continues to attract attention in the lifestyle SUV segment, while the Scorpio N remains part of Mahindra’s larger SUV offering. The Bolero family serves a different customer base with its focus on utility and practical use. Alongside these models, the company’s XUV range and electric SUVs add further options to its portfolio.
For the September 2026 sales period, the key figure is Mahindra’s 14 percent growth in domestic utility vehicle sales. The company’s total automobile sales were even higher in percentage terms, rising 15 percent year on year to 1,14,874 units. These figures show that Mahindra maintained positive sales momentum across its automotive operations during the month.
Going forward, monthly sales figures during the festive season will provide further information about demand for Mahindra’s SUV portfolio. Model wise sales data, when released by the company, will provide a clearer picture of the individual contribution of the Thar Roxx, Scorpio N, Bolero and other vehicles.
