Mercedes-Benz has opened bookings for the new GLC Electric in India ahead of its official launch on November 4, 2026. The electric SUV will become an important addition to the company’s growing battery-electric vehicle portfolio in the country, as Mercedes-Benz continues to expand its electric product range.

The GLC Electric will initially be offered in the GLC 400 4Matic specification for the Indian market. The SUV will be locally assembled at Mercedes-Benz India’s manufacturing facility in Chakan, Pune. Local assembly is expected to help the company position the model competitively within the premium electric SUV segment.

According to current reports, the India-specification GLC 400 4Matic is equipped with a 94kWh battery pack and a dual-motor all-wheel-drive system. International specifications indicate a combined output of around 490hp and 800Nm of torque. The SUV can reportedly accelerate from 0 to 100kmph in approximately 4.3 seconds.

One of the major highlights of the GLC Electric is its claimed driving range. Mercedes-Benz has quoted a WLTP range of up to 715km, although the actual range can vary depending on configuration, driving conditions, temperature and usage. The electric SUV is also based on an 800-volt electrical architecture and supports high-speed DC charging.

The GLC Electric is reported to support DC fast charging at up to 330kW. Under suitable charging conditions, Mercedes-Benz claims that a short charging session can add a significant amount of driving range. The vehicle is therefore positioned not only as a premium luxury SUV but also as a long-distance electric vehicle.

The new electric GLC also brings several technology-focused features. International specifications include a large MBUX Hyperscreen measuring approximately 39.1 inches, combining the digital instrument cluster, central infotainment display and passenger screen into a single visual unit.

The SUV is also expected to feature Mercedes-Benz’s latest-generation MBUX technology with artificial intelligence-based functions. Mercedes-Benz has integrated AI technologies from companies including Microsoft and Google into its newer vehicle systems, allowing the vehicle to handle more advanced voice and navigation-related requests.

Another technology highlight is the panoramic SKY CONTROL roof, which uses switchable glass technology. Depending on the specification, the roof can be changed between transparent and opaque settings. The SUV is also available internationally with advanced ambient lighting features.

The GLC Electric has been developed with a focus on comfort and driving dynamics. Features such as AIRMATIC air suspension and rear-wheel steering are available, with rear-wheel steering helping improve manoeuvrability in urban environments. The model also comes with multiple driving and regenerative braking modes.

Mercedes-Benz is expected to position the GLC Electric in the premium electric SUV category in India. While the company has not yet announced the final India price, reports currently place expectations in the range of approximately Rs 80 lakh to Rs 90 lakh ex-showroom. The final price will be confirmed at the time of launch.

The GLC Electric launch comes at a time when Mercedes-Benz is witnessing strong demand for its electric vehicles in India. The company has reported that its battery-electric vehicle sales increased during the first nine months of 2026. However, supply availability remains an important factor affecting the pace of EV deliveries.

The company’s CLA Electric has emerged as a significant example of this demand. Mercedes-Benz India has confirmed more than 1,000 orders for the electric sedan. Reports indicate that limited vehicle supply has resulted in extended waiting periods, with some deliveries now expected to continue into March or April 2027.

The CLA Electric was launched in India earlier in 2026 and has contributed to Mercedes-Benz’s growing electric vehicle sales. According to company comments reported by Business Standard, Mercedes-Benz believes it could have delivered more vehicles if adequate CLA Electric supply had been available.

Mercedes-Benz India recorded 15,190 vehicle sales during January to September 2026, representing growth of around 8 percent compared with the same period last year. The company also reported record quarterly sales during the July to September period, with 5,422 vehicles retailed.

The strong performance of the CLA Electric and the upcoming GLC Electric launch indicate that electric vehicles are becoming a more important part of Mercedes-Benz India’s product strategy. The company has also indicated that EVs could account for a larger share of its sales in the coming years if supply improves.

With the GLC Electric bookings now open, customers interested in the luxury electric SUV can register their interest ahead of the November 4 launch. The final price, variant details, delivery schedule and India-specific equipment list are expected to be confirmed closer to the launch.

The GLC Electric will join other Mercedes-Benz electric models available in India, including the CLA Electric, EQS SUV, Mercedes-Maybach EQS SUV and G 580. Its arrival will further strengthen the company’s presence in the premium electric SUV market.

Overall, the simultaneous demand for the CLA Electric and the upcoming GLC Electric highlights the changing preferences among luxury car buyers in India. While supply constraints remain a challenge, Mercedes-Benz appears to be seeing increasing customer interest in its electric range. The November launch will provide more clarity on pricing, specifications and the company’s plans for expanding its electric vehicle portfolio in India.

Features such as AIRMATIC air suspension and rear-wheel steering are available, with rear-wheel steering helping improve manoeuvrability in urban environments.
