The Indian Institute of Technology Guwahati has activated the objection window for the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering GATE 2026 provisional answer key. Candidates who are not satisfied with the answers published by the authorities can submit their objections through the official GOAPS portal at goaps.iitg.ac.in. The last date to raise challenges is February 28, 2026.
According to the official announcement, candidates must provide proper justification for each objection raised. They are required to upload relevant supporting documents and pay the prescribed objection fee for every question they wish to challenge. Objections submitted without valid explanation or required documentation may not be considered for review. The institute has advised candidates to carefully read all important instructions available on the portal before initiating the challenge process.
It has been clarified that provisional candidates are not eligible to file objections against the answer key. However, they are permitted to log in to the GOAPS portal to view their recorded responses and question papers. Only eligible candidates who appeared for the examination can raise objections within the stipulated time frame.
GATE 2026 was conducted on February 7, 8, 14 and 15 across various examination centres in the country. The examination serves multiple purposes, including admission to Master of Technology and Doctor of Philosophy programmes in prestigious institutions, eligibility for financial assistance and recruitment opportunities in several Public Sector Undertakings.
The provisional answer keys, along with the response sheets and master question papers, were released on February 22, 2026. The release of these documents allows candidates to evaluate their performance and estimate probable scores before the declaration of final results. After the objection window closes, subject experts will review all the challenges submitted by candidates. If any objection is found to be valid, the necessary corrections will be made in the final answer key.
The final answer key will form the basis for the preparation of the GATE 2026 results. The results are expected to be declared after the evaluation process is completed. Candidates are advised to regularly check the official website and the GOAPS portal for updates related to the final answer key and result announcement.
GATE remains one of the most competitive examinations in the field of engineering and technology in India. Each year, lakhs of candidates appear for the examination seeking academic advancement and career opportunities. The transparent process of releasing provisional answer keys and allowing objections ensures fairness and accuracy in evaluation.
Candidates are encouraged to complete the objection process well before the deadline to avoid last minute technical issues.
