The Indian Institute of Management Kozhikode has marked a significant milestone in executive education by welcoming a record 683 participants into its Executive MBA programme. This is the largest intake since the programme’s inception and reflects the rising demand for advanced management education among working professionals in India.
According to institute officials, nearly 30 percent of the newly admitted students are women, underlining a positive shift towards greater gender diversity in executive and leadership-oriented academic programmes. The institute described this trend as encouraging, particularly in traditionally male-dominated sectors such as operations, technology, and finance.
The Executive MBA programme at IIM Kozhikode is designed for experienced professionals who wish to enhance their managerial capabilities without interrupting their careers. Participants in the current cohort come from a wide range of industries, including information technology, manufacturing, banking and finance, healthcare, energy, consulting, government services, and entrepreneurship. This diversity is expected to enrich classroom discussions and peer learning.
Faculty members highlighted that the curriculum focuses on developing strategic thinking, leadership skills, data-driven decision-making, and global business perspectives. The programme blends core management subjects with electives tailored to emerging areas such as digital transformation, sustainability, analytics, and innovation management. Case studies, group projects, simulations, and industry interactions form an integral part of the learning experience.
IIM Kozhikode officials noted that the increase in enrolment reflects the growing importance of lifelong learning in a rapidly evolving business environment. As industries undergo technological disruption and organisational structures change, professionals are increasingly seeking structured programmes that help them reskill and upskill.
The institute has also expanded its digital and blended learning infrastructure to support the large cohort while maintaining academic rigor and engagement. Advanced learning platforms, virtual classrooms, and interactive tools are being used to ensure that participants receive a consistent and high-quality educational experience.
Women participation in the programme has been steadily rising over the years, aligning with the institute’s broader commitment to inclusion and diversity. Officials stated that the institute continues to encourage applications from women professionals through outreach initiatives, flexible learning models, and supportive academic policies.
Industry experts view the record intake as an indicator of India’s expanding executive education market. With organisations placing greater emphasis on leadership development and strategic capabilities, demand for executive MBA programmes from top institutions is expected to remain strong.
IIM Kozhikode reiterated its commitment to nurturing responsible leaders who can contribute meaningfully to organisations and society. The institute said the Executive MBA programme aims not only to enhance individual career growth but also to create a network of professionals capable of driving innovation, ethical leadership, and sustainable business practices in India and beyond.
