The Railway Recruitment Boards are reported to have released a tentative recruitment calendar for 2026, providing an expected timeline for notifications across various categories. The calendar aims to streamline recruitment planning and give aspirants clarity on upcoming railway examinations.
As per reports, the recruitment cycle for 2026 is expected to begin with the Assistant Loco Pilot category. The notification for ALP posts is likely to be issued in February 2026. Vacancy assessment for this category is reportedly planned to continue until mid-2027, with preparatory work such as OIRMS postings and drafting of the Centralised Employment Notice expected to be completed in early 2026.
The Technician recruitment is tentatively scheduled for March 2026. Reports indicate that internal approvals are required before the official notification is issued. The draft Centralised Employment Notice is expected to be prepared ahead of the formal announcement to ensure timely processing.
The Section Controller recruitment is expected to be part of the first-quarter hiring cycle, with a tentative notification month of April 2026. Officials have reportedly been instructed to ensure that the notification aligns with the first-quarter recruitment timeline.
Paramedical category recruitments are expected to be notified around July 2026. Vacancy assessments for these posts are planned between May and June 2026. The drafting of the Centralised Employment Notice is expected to take place in July, following completion of the assessment process.
Junior Engineer and other related technical posts are also likely to be notified in July 2026 as part of the mid-year recruitment drive. Preparation for these posts is reportedly being aligned with the Paramedical recruitment process to optimise administrative coordination.
The Non-Technical Popular Categories recruitment, covering both graduate and undergraduate levels, is tentatively scheduled for August 2026. This is considered one of the largest recruitment drives conducted by the RRBs, and candidates are advised to monitor application windows closely once official notifications are released.
Ministerial and Isolated category posts are expected to be notified in September 2026. Reports suggest that the drafting of the Centralised Employment Notice for these posts is likely to be completed within the same month.
Group D Level-1 recruitment, another large-scale hiring exercise, is tentatively scheduled for October 2026. The notification is expected to be issued in the final quarter of the year, subject to administrative approvals and vacancy assessments.
According to reports, the Railway Ministry has instructed all regional RRBs to assess vacancies in advance and update relevant details on the Online Recruitment Management System. Regional boards have also been directed to adhere to the prescribed timelines and complete Centralised Employment Notice preparations within set deadlines.
Candidates should note that the calendar is tentative and subject to change. Official confirmation, detailed notifications, eligibility criteria, and application dates will be released separately by the Railway Recruitment Boards. Aspirants are advised to rely only on official RRB websites for final announcements while using the tentative calendar as a planning reference for 2026 railway examinatio
