Actor and Shiv Sena leader Govinda was hospitalized after accidentally shooting himself in the knee at his home in Mumbai on Tuesday morning. The incident occurred at approximately 4:45 AM as he was preparing to catch a 6 AM flight to Kolkata. According to Govinda’s manager, Shashi Sinha, the trigger of his licensed revolver was inadvertently pulled while he was placing the gun in a cupboard, leading to a misfire that resulted in a bullet hitting his leg.

Following the incident, the actor was rushed to CritiCare Hospital for treatment. As per reports, he is currently stable but will remain in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) for 24 hours, where his condition will be closely monitored by medical professionals. Shiv Sena leader Krishna Hegde shared an audio note expressing gratitude towards the doctors and confirming that the bullet had been removed successfully.

Govind Arun Ahuja, widely known as Govinda, is a beloved figure in Indian cinema, having starred in over 165 Hindi films. Some of his most popular movies include "Raja Babu" (1994), "Hero No. 1" (1997), "Shola Aur Shabnam" (1992), and "Dulhe Raja" (1998).

In March, ahead of the Lok Sabha elections, Govinda made his return to the political scene by joining the Eknath Shinde-led Shiv Sena. This marked his comeback to politics after nearly two decades; he previously won the Mumbai North Lok Sabha seat on a Congress ticket in 2004 but distanced himself from politics in 2008.

Authorities have seized the firearm involved in the incident and initiated an investigation, though no complaints have been lodged as of now.
