Diljit Dosanjh and Alia Bhatt are set to reunite for their new project, Jigra, eight years after their successful collaboration in Udta Punjab. Alia Bhatt took to Instagram to announce the reunion, sharing a post that features both actors seated in chairs with intriguing labels: Diljit's chair read "Sings about Kudi" and Alia's chair read "The Said 'Kudi'," a nod to Diljit's song "Ikk Kudi Jida Naam Mohabbat" from Udta Punjab. The caption, "chairs say it all. Diljit Dosanjh," hints at their renewed collaboration, though details are still unclear. Speculation suggests that Diljit may be contributing a song to the film.
Directed by Vasan Bala, Jigra also stars Vedang Raina and is scheduled for a theatrical release on October 11. The film's plot revolves around Alia Bhatt's character who undertakes extraordinary measures to free her brother from prison. The movie is produced by Karan Johar, Apoorva Mehta, Alia Bhatt, Shaheen Bhatt, and Soumen Mishra.
Diljit Dosanjh made his Hindi film debut in 2016 with Udta Punjab, where he starred opposite Kareena Kapoor Khan. The film, directed by Abhishek Chaubey, also featured Shahid Kapoor. Currently, Diljit is on an international music tour and has recently appeared in Amar Singh Chamkila and Jatt & Juliet 3.
Alia Bhatt’s recent projects include Karan Johar's Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani with Ranveer Singh and her Hollywood debut Heart of Stone, which released last year.
