The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation has reportedly initiated action against filmmaker Aditya Dhar’s production company, B62 Studios, in connection with alleged violations during the shooting of the upcoming film Dhurandhar 2. Civic officials have sought the permanent blacklisting of the studio from receiving future filming permissions within Mumbai, along with the imposition of penalties.
According to reports that surfaced on February 16, the civic body raised concerns over compliance with municipal rules and guidelines during the production process. Authorities are examining whether necessary permissions were obtained and whether conditions attached to those permissions were followed. The exact nature of the alleged violations has not been detailed publicly, but officials have indicated that procedural lapses may have occurred.
Dhurandhar 2, titled Dhurandhar The Revenge, is the sequel to a successful spy action film starring Ranveer Singh. The story continues the narrative of an Indian spy and features a cast that includes Sanjay Dutt, R Madhavan and Arjun Rampal among others. The film is scheduled for theatrical release on March 19, and expectations remain high following the commercial performance of its predecessor.
The reported friction between the production house and the civic body comes at a crucial time, just weeks before the film’s release. Industry observers note that disputes involving municipal authorities can affect production schedules, promotional activities and public perception. However, there has been no indication that the release date has been altered at this stage.
Civic regulations in Mumbai require filmmakers to obtain appropriate permits for shooting in public locations and to adhere to safety, environmental and structural guidelines. Non compliance may lead to fines, suspension of permissions or other administrative action. The BMC is responsible for ensuring that filming activities do not disrupt public order or violate local laws.
As of now, B62 Studios has not issued a comprehensive public statement addressing the allegations. It remains unclear whether the production house plans to challenge the proposed action or submit clarifications to the authorities. Legal experts indicate that any decision to permanently blacklist a production company would likely involve due process and an opportunity for representation.
The situation highlights the importance of regulatory compliance in large scale film productions, particularly in metropolitan areas where logistical coordination is complex. Municipal authorities often work closely with filmmakers to facilitate shoots while ensuring adherence to civic norms.
With the film’s release approaching, stakeholders in the entertainment industry are closely monitoring the developments. Further clarity is expected once the civic body completes its review and issues a formal decision regarding the proposed action against B62 Studios.
