Dhurandhar 2: The Revenge is the highly awaited sequel to the blockbuster 2025 film Dhurandhar, directed by Aditya Dhar and starring Ranveer Singh in the lead role. The sequel expands the intense spy‑action narrative of the original and is set for a worldwide theatrical release on 19 March 2026, with paid preview shows beginning a day earlier on 18 March. The film’s advance bookings have broken records internationally, highlighting its strong anticipation among audiences.
Plot Overview
The sequel continues the journey of Jaskirat Singh Rangi, portrayed by Ranveer Singh, who has now fully transformed into the formidable Hamza Ali Mazari after the events of the first film. Following his elimination of the gangster Rehman Dakait in Dhurandhar, Jaskirat finds himself deeply embedded in Karachi’s criminal underworld, where he earns the fearsome reputation of “Sher‑e‑Baloch”.
Dhurandhar 2 delves deeper into his backstory, revealing how he was recruited for a covert mission by intelligence operative Ajay Sanyal, played by R. Madhavan. The narrative follows Hamza’s high‑stakes attempt to dismantle organised crime networks and cut off the financial channels that support terror operations. Alongside this external conflict, the film explores the psychological battle between Hamza and the enigmatic mastermind known only as “Bade Sahab”.
Sara Arjun returns in the film as Yalina, Hamza’s wife, whose relationship plays a critical emotional role as the plot advances. Other key cast members include Sanjay Dutt and Arjun Rampal in pivotal roles, adding depth and experience to the ensemble.
Runtime and Certification
Reports suggest that Dhurandhar 2: The Revenge is one of the lengthier Indian films, with industry estimates indicating a runtime that places it among the epic narratives in recent Bollywood history. While earlier reports varied, the film is widely described as expansive in scope and scale, similar to its predecessor.
The Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) has highlighted the intense and action‑filled nature of the sequel, with strong sequences that align with the thriller genre. Specific certification details are awaited as the theatrical release approaches, but the content signals a mature and gritty cinematic experience.
Release Details and Box Office Buzz
Dhurandhar 2’s release on 19 March 2026 positions it as a major contender in the 2026 box office calendar. It is expected to contend with several other high‑profile releases, and advance bookings have already shown a strong beginning. In North America alone, the film has surpassed USD 4 million in ticket sales for its opening weekend, underscoring its global appeal.
OTT and Streaming Outlook
While theatrical release plans are confirmed, details about the film’s digital streaming rights are currently emerging. Early discussions indicate that after its cinema run, Dhurandhar 2 is likely to premiere on a major OTT platform, following trends seen with the first film in the franchise. Fans awaiting streaming availability should stay tuned for announcements from the producers and rights holders.
In summary, Dhurandhar 2: The Revenge builds on the success of its predecessor, offering a darker, more expansive story of espionage, vengeance and undercover missions. With a star‑studded cast, powerful direction, and massive pre‑release buzz, it aims to be one of the defining films of Bollywood in 2026.
