The much-awaited third instalment of the Drishyam franchise is officially on the way. The makers of Drishyam 3 have confirmed that the film will be released in theatres on October 2, 2026. Ajay Devgn will once again step into the role of Vijay Salgaonkar, a character that has become iconic in Indian cinema for his sharp intellect and meticulously planned alibis.
The release date was revealed through a promotional video unveiled on Monday, immediately generating excitement among fans of the thriller series. Since the release of the first Drishyam film in Hindi, the franchise has built a loyal audience that closely follows its layered storytelling and suspenseful narratives. The announcement marks the end of a long wait for viewers eager to see how the story continues.
October 2 has special importance in the Drishyam universe. In the earlier films, the date played a crucial role in the narrative structure, particularly in relation to Vijay Salgaonkar’s carefully crafted timeline. Choosing the same date for the release of the third part has been widely interpreted as a deliberate nod to the franchise’s signature storytelling style. It suggests that Drishyam 3 will once again revolve around themes of memory, time, and misdirection.
The Drishyam franchise is known for its slow-burning tension, moral dilemmas, and unexpected twists. Ajay Devgn’s portrayal of Vijay Salgaonkar has been central to its success, earning praise for its restraint and intensity. Over the years, the character has evolved into one of the most memorable protagonists in modern Bollywood thrillers.
While the makers have not disclosed details about the plot of Drishyam 3, industry observers expect the film to raise the stakes further. Each instalment of the series has expanded the narrative while maintaining continuity with past events. Fans are particularly curious to see how the story progresses after the events of Drishyam 2, which concluded with another carefully layered resolution.
The franchise is the Hindi adaptation of the acclaimed Malayalam films, and its success has demonstrated the strong appetite for intelligent, content-driven thrillers among Indian audiences. Trade analysts believe Drishyam 3 has strong box office potential, especially with a strategic holiday release date and an established fan base.
As production updates are awaited, the announcement of the release date has already reignited interest in the series. With Ajay Devgn returning as Vijay Salgaonkar and October 2 once again at the centre of the narrative, Drishyam 3 is poised to be one of the most anticipated Bollywood releases of 2026.
