The much-awaited trailer for Freedom at Midnight, directed by Nikkhil Advani, was released on Saturday. Based on the book by Larry Collins and Dominique Lapierre, the series delves deep into the final days before India gained independence from British rule. Advani serves as the showrunner and director, with the script penned by Abhinandan Gupta, Adwitiya Kareng Das, Gundeep Kaur, Divya Nidhi Sharma, Revanta Sarabhai, and Ethan Taylor.

The trailer offers a peek into a tumultuous period in Indian history, focusing on the key figures who influenced the course of events — Mahatma Gandhi, Jawaharlal Nehru, and Muhammad Ali Jinnah. Set against the backdrop of the political tensions and the violent partition that claimed thousands of lives, the series sheds light on the discussions, negotiations, and challenges that led to India’s freedom. Monochrome visuals in the trailer evoke the intensity of the partition period, with a message stating, “The History You May Not Know, The History You Should Know.”

The series features a stellar cast including Sidhant Gupta as Nehru, Chirag Vohra as Gandhi, and Arif Zakaria as Jinnah, alongside Rajendra Chawla, Malishka Mendonsa, Ira Dubey, and many others. Produced by Emmay Entertainment in association with StudioNext and Sony LIV, Freedom at Midnight will stream on Sony LIV starting November 15.
