Iulia Vantur, Romanian actress, singer, and close friend of Salman Khan, has finally addressed the conversations surrounding the box office performance of Khan’s recent film, Sikandar. While a section of the media and trade analysts have suggested that the movie underperformed, Vantur offered a contrasting view, stating that Sikandar actually did “extraordinarily well”.
In a recent interview, Vantur said, “It’s easy to judge a film based on numbers, but Sikandar touched people emotionally and had a lasting impact. That’s what cinema is about.” She emphasized that success should not be measured by commercial standards alone, especially when a film resonates with its audience.
Sikandar, which was released amid much hype, was expected to be a blockbuster. Although it had a strong opening weekend, collections reportedly slowed down in the following weeks. This led some to tag it as a box office disappointment. However, many fans and industry insiders have praised the film’s story, action sequences, and Salman Khan’s performance.
Iulia further added that global streaming numbers and audience feedback tell a different story. “The film has done really well on digital platforms. The love from fans across India and even overseas shows that the story connected deeply,” she said.
Trade analysts suggest that while Sikandar may not have broken records, it was far from a flop. The film covered its production costs and generated substantial viewership across multiple platforms. Additionally, its soundtrack, partially sung by Vantur herself, has been widely appreciated.
Her comments aim to balance the narrative and remind people that commercial performance is only one aspect of a film’s journey. With her strong support, Vantur hopes audiences will focus more on content and emotional value than just box office numbers.
As conversations continue, Sikandar remains a film that sparked debate, gained appreciation, and reminded the industry that success comes in many forms.
