The highly anticipated trailer for Jigra, starring Alia Bhatt, was unveiled by the makers on Thursday. Directed by Vasan Bala, this action-packed rescue thriller features Vedang Raina as Alia's brother, Ankur.
The trailer begins with Satya (Alia) receiving a distressing call from her brother, prompting her to ask if he has taken drugs or consumed something laced with substances. As the plot unfolds, Ankur is sentenced to the electric chair, and Satya vows to rescue him at any cost. Viewers witness her undergo grueling training in preparation for a daring jailbreak. In one particularly emotional scene, she brandishes a knife at her wrist, questioning whether risking her own life will persuade authorities to grant her a meeting with Ankur. The trailer also offers a glimpse of her humorous side as she orders an extravagant meal on a flight, eating ravenously.
The gripping trailer concludes with a powerful statement from Alia's character, where she asserts that she is “not an ethical person” but simply Ankur’s sister, highlighting the lengths she is willing to go for family.
Jigra boasts a talented supporting cast, including Rahul Ravindran, Manoj Pahwa, who portrays a mentor to Satya, and Vivek Gomber. Initially slated for release on September 27, the film's premiere has been rescheduled to October 11.
Produced by Karan Johar’s Dharma Productions in collaboration with Alia’s Eternal Sunshine Productions, Jigra is set to be a riveting exploration of familial bonds and the moral dilemmas faced when loved ones are in peril.
