The highly anticipated mythological film Kannappa, featuring actor-producer Vishnu Manchu in the lead role, has hit a roadblock during post-production. A key hard drive reportedly containing vital footage of the film has gone missing, sparking concern within the production team and among fans eagerly awaiting the film’s release.
The incident was confirmed by sources close to the production unit, who revealed that the missing drive included high-resolution footage from recently completed shoots. These scenes were said to be central to the movie’s narrative, and their loss could potentially delay the final stages of editing and production.
Directed by Mukesh Kumar Singh, Kannappa is a big-budget project based on the legendary devotee of Lord Shiva. The film has generated strong anticipation due to its ambitious scale, ensemble cast, and extensive use of visual effects. The news of the missing footage has come as an unexpected setback at a crucial stage of the film’s development.
While the exact cause behind the disappearance of the hard drive remains unclear, insiders suggest that it may have gone missing during a routine transfer of equipment between locations. An internal investigation has been launched by the production house, and the matter is being handled with urgency. Authorities may be involved if the drive is not recovered promptly, considering the financial and creative implications involved.
Vishnu Manchu, who is also producing the film under his banner, reportedly held a closed-door meeting with the crew and technical team to review safety protocols and data security measures. In a brief statement to the media, the production team assured that they are doing everything possible to trace the lost footage and have implemented backup measures to protect the remaining data.
Industry experts highlight that such incidents, while rare, can have serious consequences for big-budget productions. Losing even a portion of raw footage can lead to reshoots, increased costs, and delays in release schedules. However, the team behind Kannappa remains optimistic and is exploring all options to recover the missing content or replicate it, if necessary.
The film, which also stars actors like Prabhas and Mohanlal in key roles, is being filmed across multiple locations and involves intensive post-production work, especially in terms of CGI and special effects. The makers had initially planned to release the film later this year, but the current situation might affect the timeline depending on the outcome of the search.
Fans of Vishnu Manchu and followers of the project have taken to social media to express concern and support. The production team has urged patience, promising regular updates as more information becomes available.
With hopes pinned on the recovery of the hard drive, the film industry and fans alike await further developments as Kannappa continues its journey toward completion.
