The makers of Kohrra have released the trailer for Season 2, offering a glimpse into a darker and more layered crime drama set against the backdrop of Punjab. After the success of the first season, which was praised for its grounded storytelling and strong performances, the new season raises the stakes with a fresh mystery and deeper emotional conflicts.
Season 2 is set in the fictional town of Dalerpura, where a brutal murder triggers a complex investigation. Barun Sobti returns as Amarpal Garundi, a police officer burdened by past trauma and unresolved personal conflicts. This time, he is joined by Mona Singh, who plays Dhanwant Kaur, a senior and composed officer known for her sharp instincts and restrained approach to policing. Their partnership forms the emotional and narrative core of the season.
The trailer hints at a crime that is far more than a simple case. As the investigation progresses, long-buried secrets begin to surface, revealing fractures within families, institutions, and the police force itself. The series continues its trademark focus on realism, exploring how personal histories and emotional scars influence professional decisions. Rather than relying on fast-paced action alone, Kohrra Season 2 appears to prioritise character-driven storytelling.
Mona Singh’s character brings a new dynamic to the narrative. Her calm and methodical style contrasts with Amarpal’s inner turmoil, creating tension as well as balance within the investigative team. The trailer suggests that both characters are battling their own demons while navigating moral ambiguity and pressure from powerful interests.
Visually, the series retains its gritty tone, using muted colours and atmospheric settings to reflect the underlying darkness of the story. The rural and semi-urban landscapes of Punjab once again play a crucial role, grounding the narrative in a sense of place. The show also touches upon issues such as quiet corruption, abuse of power, and the emotional toll of law enforcement work.
The creative team behind Kohrra has emphasised that Season 2 expands the universe of the show rather than repeating the same formula. While the central mystery is new, the themes of loss, guilt, and justice remain central. The trailer indicates a slower, more deliberate pace, allowing the story and characters to unfold organically.
With strong performances, a compelling premise, and a darker narrative arc, Kohrra Season 2 is positioned as one of the most anticipated Indian crime dramas of the year. Fans of the first season can expect a deeper exploration of its characters, while new viewers are likely to be drawn in by its intense atmosphere and layered storytelling.
