What a person has said (in citation), we shouldn’t go for that." Aggarwal's remarks aimed to redirect the conversation towards the film's artistic merit rather than the wording of the citation.

Laapataa Ladies has been selected as India's official entry for the Oscars 2025 in the Best International Feature Film category, generating excitement in the film community. However, the announcement was met with significant criticism due to the citation released by the Film Federation of India (FFI). The citation's first line, which describes "Indian women as a strange mixture of submission and dominance," was labeled as sexist by many social media users and fans.

In light of this controversy, TP Aggarwal, Vice President of the FFI, addressed the backlash, stating, "I am aware of it but people should just focus on the content of the movie. It is a very good film. All the members have liked it. What a person has said (in citation), we shouldn’t go for that." Aggarwal's remarks aimed to redirect the conversation towards the film's artistic merit rather than the wording of the citation.

Directed by Kiran Rao, Laapataa Ladies features a cast of newcomers, including Sparsh Srivastava, Pratibha Ranta, and Nitanshi Goel in leading roles. The film also includes seasoned actors Ravi Kishen and Chhaya Kadam in pivotal roles, promising a mix of fresh talent and experienced performers. As anticipation builds for its release, the focus remains on the film's narrative and themes rather than the controversy surrounding its citation.
