At the 55th International Film Festival of India (IFFI) 2024, Bollywood actor Ranbir Kapoor announced the Raj Kapoor Film Festival to honor the legendary filmmaker's 100th birth anniversary. The festival, taking place from December 13-15 across India, will feature restored versions of 10 classic Raj Kapoor films. Kapoor mentioned that the restoration effort is being led by the National Film Development Corporation of India, the National Film Archives of India, Film Heritage Foundation, and his uncle Kunal Kapoor.

During a conversation with filmmaker Rahul Rawail at the festival, Ranbir reflected on the importance of remembering the roots of Indian cinema. He humorously recalled how his daughter, Raha, was introduced to the song “Kisi Ki Muskurahaton Pe Ho Nisaar” from Raj Kapoor's Anari.

Ranbir also discussed his dream of making a biopic on Raj Kapoor. He emphasized that the film would need to honestly depict both the highs and lows of his grandfather’s life, including his struggles and personal relationships. Though Ranbir acknowledged the difficulty of such a project, he expressed confidence it would make for a compelling film. He also revealed that he has been discussing the biopic with his mentor, filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali.

Additionally, Ranbir expressed excitement about working once again with Bhansali on Love & War, marking their reunion after 17 years since Saawariya. He shared his respect for Bhansali's unwavering dedication to cinema, stating that the director remains unchanged in his passion for films.
