Rohit Shetty has officially confirmed that Deepika Padukone will headline a standalone film within his popular cop universe, playing the character of Shakti Shetty, or 'Lady Singham,' who was introduced in the recently released Singham Again. In a recent interaction, Shetty shared that while the concept for the film is already in place, the script is still in the works.
Reflecting on the journey of the cop-universe, Shetty revealed that he wasn’t sure about expanding the universe until Simmba (2018) was successful. The success of Simmba opened the door for Sooryavanshi (2021), which sparked the idea of creating a female-led cop film.
Originally, the Shakti Shetty spin-off was planned to follow Singham Again, but due to the COVID-19 lockdown, it was delayed. Shetty admitted that while they have an idea of the character and her story arc, the journey of Lady Singham is still being developed. He assured fans that a film focused on the lady cop will definitely happen, as her character plays a significant role in Singham Again, which released on November 1.
Despite the uncertainty over the complete narrative, the director promised that the character's arc will unfold, with Lady Singham leading her own film in the future.
