Speculation is building around the cast of Mardaani 3, the third installment in the successful action thriller series led by Rani Mukerji. According to recent reports, one of the actors who shared screen space with Ajay Devgn in Shaitaan may join the Mardaani franchise in a prominent role, potentially as a fellow police officer working alongside Rani Mukerji’s character, Shivani Shivaji Roy.
While the actor’s name has not been officially announced, several entertainment portals suggest that discussions are underway and the deal is close to being finalized. The news has sparked interest among fans of both the Mardaani series and Shaitaan, with many excited about the potential crossover of strong performances.
Mardaani 3 will once again feature Rani Mukerji reprising her role as Senior Inspector Shivani Shivaji Roy, a fearless and sharp-minded cop known for her relentless pursuit of justice, particularly in cases involving crimes against women and children. The franchise, backed by Yash Raj Films, has been well received for its gripping narratives and strong female lead.
The addition of a new cop character may indicate a fresh twist in the storyline. Sources close to the production suggest that the new character could either be a mentor-figure or a rival-turned-ally, depending on how the script evolves. This kind of character development is likely to add depth and new energy to the franchise.
Mardaani first released in 2014 and was followed by Mardaani 2 in 2019, both directed by Gopi Puthran. The third film is reportedly still in the scripting phase, with pre-production activities including casting and location scouting currently underway. Yash Raj Films has not yet announced a release date, but an official update is expected soon.
Industry experts believe that the strategic casting of a recognized actor from Shaitaan—a film that received critical and commercial acclaim—could help boost the appeal of Mardaani 3 to a wider audience. It may also hint at the studio’s plans to create a more interconnected cinematic universe within its action thriller genre.
Neither Rani Mukerji nor Yash Raj Films have commented publicly on the casting rumors, maintaining the secrecy that often surrounds high-profile Bollywood projects. However, if the reports turn out to be accurate, fans can expect a powerful onscreen partnership and an engaging new chapter in the Mardaani saga.
