Former Bollywood actress and current social activist Somy Ali has once again raised public concern over the mysterious disappearance of actor Raj Kiran, best known for his role in the 1980 classic film Karz, where he starred alongside Rishi Kapoor.
Somy, who was once romantically linked to Salman Khan, took to social media recently to express her continued efforts in locating Raj Kiran. Her heartfelt post read, “Decades have passed, but I still can’t forget his face or the mystery surrounding his disappearance. Someone somewhere must know something. Please come forward.”
Raj Kiran, once a familiar face in Bollywood during the 1980s and early ’90s, suddenly vanished from the film industry. For years, his whereabouts remained unknown. In 2011, Rishi Kapoor had claimed in an interview that he heard Raj Kiran was in a mental health institution in the United States, but the claim was never confirmed. Since then, no conclusive evidence has surfaced about his current status or location.
Somy Ali’s recent statement has reignited public interest in the case, with fans and film historians once again speculating about what could have happened to the once-promising actor. Known for her outspokenness and activism through her non-profit organization in the U.S., Somy has often used her platform to highlight issues of mental health and forgotten celebrities.
In her post, she emphasized the need for empathy and closure. “If he’s alive, he deserves our support. If not, his family and fans deserve answers,” she wrote.
The case of Raj Kiran remains one of Bollywood’s most haunting mysteries. Despite brief moments of speculation and media attention, no official information has ever confirmed his condition or exact location. Somy Ali’s renewed appeal serves as a reminder of the many artists who fade from the spotlight and sometimes, sadly, from memory.
