Anant Balani, initially at the helm of the film Chameli, tragically passed away from a heart attack while on set, never living to see the film’s release. Balani’s untimely death occurred during the shooting of Chameli, starring Kareena Kapoor and Rahul Bose, at Mumbai’s Rajkamal Studios. The film, which is often associated with director Sudhir Mishra, was initially directed by Balani. His passing was sudden; he suffered a heart attack and was declared dead on arrival at Mumbai's Nanavati Hospital after being transported in an autorickshaw.
Balani's career was marked by significant contributions, including directing Gawahi in 1989, featuring Zeenat Aman, Ranjeeta, Shekhar Kapur, and Ashutosh Gowariker. He also directed Patthar Ke Phool in 1991 with Salman Khan and Raveena Tandon, and Jazbaat in 1995, which starred Rohit Roy and singer Suchitra Krishnamurthy. Unfortunately, Balani’s financial struggles were compounded by Jazbaat, which was financed with his inheritance and resulted in financial strain. Despite his achievements, Balani’s career was cut short, and he did not witness the release of his last four films, including Chameli.
