Anandaraj, celebrated for his iconic villain roles in films such as Baasha, Surya Vamsam, and Pokkiri, is gearing up to star in the new gangster film Madras Mafia Company. This project marks the directorial debut of AS Mukundan, who has cast Samyuktha Shan as the film’s police officer.
The narrative revolves around the complex relationship between Anandaraj's character, a powerful don experiencing a dramatic downfall after two decades, and Samyuktha’s character, a newly appointed officer intent on capturing him. Mukundan shared insights with the Times of India, stating that the film explores the contrasting worlds of these two characters, highlighting the tensions inherent in their opposing roles.
While Anandaraj's recent films often include a comedic touch, such as in Naanum Rowdy Dhaan and Conjuring Kannappan, Madras Mafia Company will see him return to a darker, more traditional villainous character. Mukundan emphasized the need for a strong female lead as the protagonist, a departure from the typical male-versus-male dynamic often seen in gangster films. This decision aims to add a fresh perspective to the genre, making the film an exciting prospect for audiences.
