Jailer 2 Surpasses Jailer and Leo One of the film’s most significant reported achievements is its performance against two major Tamil cinema releases.

Jailer 2 Crosses Rs 606 Crore Worldwide in Eight Days

Rajinikanth’s Jailer 2 has achieved a major box-office milestone by crossing Rs 600 crore in worldwide gross collections within eight days of its theatrical release. According to figures reported by entertainment publications citing trade tracker Sacnilk, the Tamil action drama had accumulated approximately Rs 606.05 crore worldwide by Day 8. The reported total places the film ahead of the lifetime worldwide collections of its predecessor, Jailer, and Thalapathy Vijay’s Leo.

The film was released in theatres on October 15, 2026, and generated strong opening-week business across multiple language markets. Its latest reported figures indicate that it continues to attract audiences in India and overseas, although its domestic daily collections have declined compared with the previous day.

Day 8 Box Office Collection

On Thursday, October 22, Jailer 2 reportedly earned Rs 17.15 crore in India net collections across its language versions. This represented a decline of approximately 39.1 per cent compared with the reported India net collection of Rs 28.15 crore on the previous day.

The film’s cumulative India net collection reached Rs 334.35 crore by Day 8, according to the cited trade figures. Its reported domestic gross collection stood at Rs 391.55 crore, while overseas markets contributed approximately Rs 214.50 crore. Together, these figures brought its reported worldwide gross to Rs 606.05 crore.

Net collection refers to ticket revenue after the applicable entertainment tax deductions, while gross collection includes those taxes. Worldwide gross combines reported earnings from domestic and international theatrical markets. These distinctions are important when comparing box-office totals between films.

Jailer 2 Surpasses Jailer and Leo

One of the film’s most significant reported achievements is its performance against two major Tamil cinema releases. Jailer 2 has reportedly moved past the lifetime worldwide gross collections of Jailer, Rajinikanth’s 2023 blockbuster, and Leo, starring Thalapathy Vijay.

The achievement places Jailer 2 among the major commercial performers in Tamil cinema. However, box-office rankings depend on the source used, the period covered and whether figures represent net or gross revenue. The reported totals should therefore be understood as trade estimates rather than independently audited financial statements.

Jailer, released in 2023, established a strong commercial benchmark for Rajinikanth. The sequel’s reported performance within just eight days highlights the scale of audience interest in the franchise. Its ability to attract viewers across several language markets has also contributed to its worldwide earnings.

Tamil Version Leads Domestic Collections

The Tamil version remained the largest contributor to Jailer 2’s reported Day 8 India net earnings. According to figures published by The Times of India, the Tamil version collected approximately Rs 10.75 crore that day. The Telugu version reportedly contributed Rs 3.60 crore, while the Hindi version earned around Rs 2.40 crore. The Kannada version added approximately Rs 40 lakh.

These figures indicate that the Tamil-language release continues to account for the largest share of the film’s domestic collections. The performance of the Telugu and Hindi versions also reflects the film’s reach beyond its primary language market.

The overseas market has played a substantial role in the film’s overall box-office performance. With reported international gross earnings of Rs 214.50 crore by Day 8, overseas audiences contributed more than Rs 200 crore to the worldwide total. International theatrical performance is an important factor in determining the final commercial standing of large Indian releases.

Film Details and Cast

Jailer 2 is the sequel to the 2023 film Jailer and features Rajinikanth as the central character, Tiger Muthuvel Pandian. The sequel continues the action-drama franchise under the direction of Nelson Dilipkumar and is produced by Sun Pictures.

The cast includes Ramya Krishnan, Yogi Babu, Vinayakan, Vidya Balan and Jackie Shroff, alongside other performers. The film also features appearances by prominent actors from other regional film industries, adding to its wider appeal.

The franchise combines action, drama and family-related conflicts, building on the character and world introduced in the first film. Rajinikanth’s screen presence, the ensemble cast and the film’s multi-language release have helped it draw attention across different theatrical markets.

What the Box Office Figures Mean

Although Jailer 2’s reported worldwide total has crossed Rs 600 crore, its Day 8 domestic net earnings were lower than those recorded on the previous day. A decline in daily collections does not necessarily indicate that a film’s overall theatrical run is weakening. Weekday trends, screen availability, audience occupancy and competition from other releases can all affect daily earnings.

The film’s performance over the second weekend will provide a clearer indication of whether it can maintain its momentum and move further up the all-time Tamil cinema box-office rankings.

All collection figures in this report are based on published trade estimates available on October 23, 2026. Different box-office trackers may report varying totals because of differences in reporting methods, market coverage and the timing of updates. The figures may change as additional information becomes available.
