Jailer 2 Moves into Tamil Cinema’s Top Five Crossing the Rs 500 crore worldwide mark has placed Jailer 2 among the highest-grossing Tamil films of all time, according to published trade reports.

Rajinikanth’s action drama Jailer 2 has continued its impressive box-office run, reportedly crossing Rs 541 crore in worldwide gross collections within its first six days in theatres. The film, directed by Nelson Dilipkumar, has attracted audiences across India and overseas markets, strengthening its position among the biggest commercial successes in Tamil cinema.

According to box-office tracker Sacnilk, Jailer 2 collected approximately Rs 45.55 crore net in India on its sixth day, Tuesday, October 20. This represented a 7.6 per cent increase compared with its reported domestic net collection of Rs 42.35 crore on Monday. The improvement during the weekday period indicates that the film continued to draw audiences after its strong opening weekend.

The latest estimates put the film’s total India net collection at Rs 287.80 crore, with its domestic gross reaching approximately Rs 337 crore. Overseas collections reportedly contributed another Rs 204 crore to its worldwide gross, taking the global total to around Rs 541 crore.

These figures are trade estimates and may change as further box-office data becomes available.

Day 6 Collection Shows a Recovery

Jailer 2 opened strongly in theatres on October 15, 2026. It reportedly collected Rs 59.70 crore net in India on its first day. Collections declined to Rs 37.10 crore on Day 2 before recovering to Rs 47.25 crore on Saturday and Rs 55.85 crore on Sunday.

On its fifth day, the film collected an estimated Rs 42.35 crore net in India. Tuesday’s reported total of Rs 45.55 crore marked a recovery, with the 7.6 per cent increase helping the film maintain momentum during its opening week.

The Tamil version remained the largest contributor to domestic collections. Sacnilk’s Day 6 estimates put its Tamil net earnings at Rs 31.20 crore. The Telugu version reportedly collected Rs 8.75 crore, while the Hindi version earned Rs 5 crore. The Kannada version contributed approximately Rs 60 lakh.

These language-wise figures highlight the film’s strong performance in its home market while showing that dubbed versions are also contributing to its overall domestic earnings.

Jailer 2 Moves into Tamil Cinema’s Top Five

Crossing the Rs 500 crore worldwide mark has placed Jailer 2 among the highest-grossing Tamil films of all time, according to published trade reports. Its reported worldwide total has also taken it past the lifetime collections attributed to Ponniyin Selvan 2, moving the Rajinikanth-starrer into fifth place in the all-time Tamil film box-office rankings cited in those reports.

The achievement is significant because the film reached this milestone within its first week of release. Its performance has renewed attention on the commercial reach of Tamil films in domestic and international markets.

The rankings are based on reported worldwide gross collections. Different box-office trackers and publications may use different estimates, so rankings and totals can vary. The reported Rs 541 crore figure should therefore be treated as an estimate rather than a final audited total.

Film Also Surpasses Toxic in Reported Domestic Earnings

Jailer 2 has also been reported to have surpassed the lifetime India net collections of Yash’s Toxic, according to entertainment coverage comparing the films’ domestic earnings. This comparison uses India net figures rather than worldwide gross totals, so the two measures should not be treated as interchangeable.

The distinction matters when assessing box-office records. India net collection refers to domestic ticket revenue after applicable entertainment taxes, while India gross includes taxes. Worldwide gross combines reported domestic gross and overseas earnings.

For this reason, comparisons between films should specify whether they refer to domestic net, domestic gross or worldwide gross. The figures published during a film’s theatrical run can also change as more data is reported.

About Jailer 2

Jailer 2 is the sequel to Rajinikanth’s 2023 blockbuster Jailer. The sequel is directed by Nelson Dilipkumar and produced by Sun Pictures. Rajinikanth returns as Tiger Muthuvel Pandian, with several actors from the first film reprising their roles.

The cast includes Ramya Krishnan and Yogi Babu, alongside actors such as Vidya Balan, Mithun Chakraborty and S. J. Suryah. The film’s music is composed by Anirudh Ravichander.

The original Jailer was a major box-office success, and expectations for the sequel were high before its release. The new film’s reported opening-week earnings suggest that Rajinikanth continues to attract audiences across different markets.

What Comes Next for the Film?

With its worldwide gross estimated at Rs 541 crore after six days, Jailer 2 is approaching the next stage of its theatrical run. Its ability to maintain collections after the opening week will be important in determining its eventual lifetime total and position in Tamil cinema’s box-office rankings.

The film’s reported Day 6 recovery, overseas contribution and performance across multiple language versions have helped drive its early commercial success. However, its final standing will depend on collections over the coming days and the figures confirmed by box-office trackers.

For now, Jailer 2 has made a strong start, crossed the reported Rs 500 crore worldwide milestone and entered discussions about the highest-grossing Tamil films of all time.

Film Also Surpasses Toxic in Reported Domestic Earnings Jailer 2 has also been reported to have surpassed the lifetime India net collections of Yash’s Toxic, according to entertainment coverage comparing the films’ domestic earnings.
