On Tuesday, coinciding with Arun Vijay's birthday, the makers of Vanangaan, directed by Bala, announced that the film is set for a Pongal 2025 release. The trailer, which dropped a few weeks ago, sets the tone for a revenge thriller where Arun Vijay's character is wrongfully imprisoned for a crime he did not commit. Upon his release, he returns to seek vengeance on those who sexually abused his sister. The trailer features a silent Arun Vijay, hinting at his mute character in the film.
Vanangaan also stars Roshni Prakash as the female lead, with Samuthirakani and Mysskin playing significant roles. The supporting cast includes Ridha, Chhaya Devi, Bala Sivaji, Shanmugarajan, Dr Yohan Chacko, Kavitha Gopi, Brindha Sarathy, Mai Pa Narayanan, Aruldass, and Munish Sivagurunath, among others.
The film features music by GV Prakash, cinematography by RB Gurudev, and editing by Sathish Suriya. Karthik Netha has penned the lyrics for the songs, while Silva choreographs the stunts. Recently, Sam CS joined the team to compose the background score.
Originally, Suriya and Krithi Shetty were to play the leads, but both exited the project due to scheduling conflicts and creative differences. Produced by Suresh Kamatchi's V House Productions and Bala's B Studios, production of Vanangaan was completed in April 2024.
