Actors Silambarasan TR and Trisha are celebrating the success of their romantic film Vinnaithaandi Varuvaayaa, directed by Gautham Vasudev Menon, as it reaches the milestone of 1000 days in theaters following its re-release. Originally released in 2010, the film was brought back to the big screen over three years ago at PVR VR Mall in Chennai's Anna Nagar. The milestone was celebrated on Monday, with fans and the film's makers commemorating this achievement through a special poster.
Vinnaithaandi Varuvaayaa explores the complicated relationship between Karthik, a Tamil Hindu boy, and Jessie, a Malayali Christian girl. Their love story is challenged by Karthik's dreams of pursuing cinema and Jessie's conservative family background, ultimately leading to a heart-wrenching separation. The film's popularity has continued to resonate with audiences, prompting fans to share their favorite moments on social media.
The film was simultaneously made in Telugu under the title Ye Maaya Chesave, featuring Samantha and Nagarjuna, and it was remade in Hindi as Ekk Deewana Tha in 2012, starring Amy Jackson and Prateik Babbar.
Additionally, during the Covid lockdown period in May 2020, director Gautham Menon released a short film titled Karthik Dial Seytha Yenn, reuniting Simbu and Trisha in their original roles, further celebrating the legacy of Vinnaithaandi Varuvaayaa. The film's enduring appeal continues to be a testament to its impact on Indian cinema.
