The teaser for Kuzhanthaigal Munnetra Kazhagam (KMK), starring Senthil and Yogi Babu, was released on Friday, with actor Karthi launching the video. The teaser introduces a satirical commentary on politics, using school elections as a backdrop. The students' actions in the teaser are cleverly linked to real-life political events, providing a humorous yet insightful take on the political landscape.
As the title suggests, Kuzhanthaigal Munnetra Kazhagam delves into the world of politics with a special focus on children. In addition to Senthil and Yogi Babu, the film features an ensemble cast, including Lizzie Antony, Saravanan, Subbu Panchu, Chitra Lakshmanan, and the late Mayilsamy.
Directed by Shankar Dayal, the film marks his return to Tamil cinema after a long hiatus. Shankar made his directorial debut with Saguni (2012), starring Karthi, and last directed Veera Dheera Sooran (2016) with Vishnu Vishal. He is also producing Kuzhanthaigal Munnetra Kazhagam alongside Arunkumar Sammantham under the Meenakshi Amman Movies banner. This film is Shankar's first collaboration with Senthil and Yogi Babu.
In a previous interview, Shankar emphasized that the film does not take a political stance. He clarified that the film is not intended to promote political hatred or violence but instead aims to show that politics is not inherently harmful. He added that while society encourages children to pursue careers in engineering and medicine, politics, which played a crucial role in shaping great leaders like Gandhi and Ambedkar, is often overlooked. The film encourages a broader perspective on politics, urging children to think about it from a young age.
On the technical front, Kuzhanthaigal Munnetra Kazhagam boasts cinematography by J Laxman Kumar (known for Poda Podi) and editing by Richard Kevin (Vikram Vedha). The film’s music is composed by the band Saadhaga Paravaigal, making their feature film debut. The makers have yet to announce a release date.
