Warner Bros. India has announced that The Colors Within, the latest anime feature by renowned filmmaker Naoko Yamada, will be released in Indian theatres with English subtitles on November 22. The Japanese film tells the story of Totsuko, a high school student who has synesthesia — a rare ability to see human emotions as colors. As she bonds with two classmates, Kimi and Rui, they form a music band and perform at a church on a remote island. Their shared musical journey allows them to discover more about themselves and their emotions.
Produced by the Science Saru studio, which is also behind Dandadan, The Colors Within was directed by Naoko Yamada, known for her acclaimed films Liz and the Blue Bird and A Silent Voice. The screenplay was written by Reiko Yoshida.
Premiering at the 2024 Annecy International Animation Film Festival, The Colors Within garnered significant attention and won the prestigious Golden Goblet for Best Animation at the Shanghai International Film Festival. Fans of Yamada’s work can look forward to a visually stunning and emotionally powerful experience when the film releases in India.
