Nithya Menen, who recently confirmed her role in Dhanush's fourth directorial Idli Kadai, has shared insights about her involvement in the film and her experience working with Dhanush. Speaking in various interviews, Nithya mentioned that while it's early to discuss the details of the film as she's only shot for a few days, the role has already pushed her far beyond her usual acting boundaries.
In an interview, Nithya said, "If the character of Shobana in Thiruchitrambalam required me to step out of my comfort zone, then Idli Kadai demands twice that. Dhanush has once again given me a role that challenges how people typically perceive me."
Regarding her working relationship with Dhanush, Nithya revealed, "Dhanush and I share a very complementary professional dynamic. He deeply values what I bring to a role, and he’s straightforward in his feedback. His passion for filmmaking is undeniable; he’s always thinking about new stories. When he sees me, he often gets inspired and pitches multiple new ideas, asking for my thoughts on them."
Nithya and Dhanush previously collaborated on Thiruchitrambalam, directed by Mithran Jawahar, a film for which Nithya recently won a National Award.
Dhanush has previously directed Pa Paandi, Raayan, and the upcoming Nilavukku Enmel Ennadi Kobam. For Idli Kadai, the music will be composed by GV Prakash Kumar, who has collaborated with Dhanush on films like Vaathi, Captain Miller, and Nilavukku En Mel Ennadi Kobam. The film is produced by Dawn Pictures, Red Giant Movies, and Wunderbar Films, with Aakash Baskaran and Dhanush producing and Sreyas Srinivasan serving as the executive producer.
On the technical front, Idli Kadai has Kiran Koushik as the Director of Photography (DOP), Prasanna GK as the editor, and Jacki as the production designer. The film reportedly features Rajkiran in a key role, and further casting details are awaited.
Apart from Idli Kadai, Nithya Menen is currently involved in other projects, including Kadhalikka Neramillai, Dear Exes, and a yet-to-be-titled film with Vijay Sethupathi.
