The makers of Viduthalai Part 2 have recently unveiled the third single from the much-anticipated film, titled "Poruthadhu Podhum". Composed by the legendary Ilaiyaraaja, the song is beautifully rendered by Yogi B, with lyrics penned by Yugabharathi.
Directed by Vetrimaaran, Viduthalai Part 2 stars Soori and Vijay Sethupathi in prominent roles. In this second installment, Manju Warrier joins the cast as Vijay Sethupathi's partner, and the film is expected to explore the complexities of Vijay Sethupathi's character, Perumal Vathiyar, a role that was only briefly introduced in the first part.
Following the success of Viduthalai Part 1, which was released last year, Viduthalai Part 2 promises to take a deeper dive into the themes of police brutality that were central to the first film. Part 1 was met with critical acclaim and was hailed as one of the most hard-hitting films in Tamil cinema. Though most of Part 2 was shot alongside the first film, the remaining portions of filming and extensive post-production work delayed its release.
Alongside Vijay Sethupathi and Soori, Viduthalai Part 2 also features the return of several key characters played by Chethan, Bhavani Sre, Gautham Vasudev Menon, Rajiv Menon, Ilavarasu, Balaji Sakthivel, Saravana Subbiah, and Munnar Ramesh. The technical crew includes R. Velraj as the cinematographer and R. Ramar as the editor.
Produced by Elred Kumar under the RS Infotainment banner and Vetrimaaran’s Grass Root Film Company, the film has already been screened at the Rotterdam Film Festival. Viduthalai Part 2 is set for a theatrical release on December 20.
