The shooting of Jailer 2 has entered a new phase with Superstar Rajinikanth arriving in Kochi to film key portions of the much anticipated sequel. In a shift from earlier schedules, the makers have chosen Kerala as the latest backdrop for the film, bringing a visually distinct setting to the project. The move has added fresh interest to the production, with fans closely following updates from the location.
According to reports, the Kochi schedule includes important scenes featuring Rajinikanth’s character Muthuvel Pandian. Filming is said to be taking place at carefully selected locations in and around Athirapilly Falls, known for its scenic beauty. The natural landscape of Kerala is expected to offer a contrast to the rugged and industrial environments seen in the first part of the franchise.
The arrival of Rajinikanth in the state has sparked considerable excitement among fans. Photos and videos from the shooting locations have been widely shared on social media, reflecting the strong anticipation surrounding the film. Security arrangements have reportedly been tightened to manage crowds and ensure smooth filming during the schedule.
Jailer 2 is expected to expand on the universe established in the first film, which was both a critical and commercial success. While the makers have kept plot details under wraps, the sequel continues to centre on Muthuvel Pandian, a disciplined former police officer whose life is shaped by strong personal values and family ties.
The film brings together a large ensemble cast drawn from multiple film industries. Ramya Krishnan is set to reprise her role as Muthuvel’s wife, while Shivarajkumar has officially been confirmed to return following his well received performance in the earlier installment. Reports also suggest that actors Mohanlal and Jackie Shroff may once again appear in cameo roles, though there has been no formal confirmation.
The pan Indian cast reportedly includes Vinayakan, Suraj Venjaramoodu, Santhanam, Mithun Chakraborty, Meghana Raj Sarja, and Malayalam actress Anna Rajan. Actor Vijay Sethupathi has stated that he will make a special appearance in the film. In addition, a dance sequence featuring actress Nora Fatehi has been added, further highlighting the film’s broad appeal across regions.
Behind the scenes, Jailer 2 reunites much of the core technical team from the first film. Director Nelson Dilipkumar returns to helm the sequel, with music composed by Anirudh. Cinematography is handled by Vijay Kartik Kannan, while editing is overseen by R Nirmal. The team aims to recreate the energy and success of the original while exploring new creative directions.
Reports indicate that the Kerala schedule could be among the final shooting phases, bringing the film closer to completion. With production progressing steadily, expectations continue to rise around how the sequel will build on the story and expand its cinematic universe.
As filming advances, Jailer 2 remains one of the most awaited projects in Indian cinema. Rajinikanth’s presence, a large multi industry cast, and a blend of action and drama have kept audiences eagerly awaiting further official updates on the film’s release and storyline.
