Sai Pallavi, awaiting the release of Amaran with Sivakarthikeyan in the lead, recently opened up about her cautious approach to signing on. Known for carefully choosing her roles, Pallavi expressed concerns that women’s scenes are often cut in male-centric films. She spoke about asking director Rajkumar Periyasamy to ensure her scenes wouldn't be minimized, especially since her role as Indhu Rebecca Varghese is pivotal to the story. Pallavi stated, “In biopics or male-driven films, heroines' scenes are sometimes cut, so I asked Rajkumar to promise that wouldn’t happen here.” Periyasamy reassured her of the importance of her character alongside Sivakarthikeyan’s portrayal of Major Mukund Varadarajan.
Reflecting on her choice of roles, Pallavi said that being selective has impacted her career but clarified that she’s comfortable with this balance, as challenging roles prevent burnout and bring “magic” to her acting process. Amaran , based on the real-life hero Major Mukund Varadarajan, highlights his bravery and sacrifice in a counterterrorism operation, adapted from the book India's Most Fearless by Shiv Aroor and Rahul Singh.
Produced by Kamal Haasan's Raaj Kamal Films International and Sony Pictures, the film features cinematography by CH Sai, editing by Kalaivanan, and action direction by Stefan Richter. Set to release on October 31, Amaran will be a Diwali special, competing with Jayam Ravi’s Brother and Kavin’s Bloody Beggar at the box office.
