On Monday, Shruti Haasan joined the sets of Coolie, directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj and starring Rajinikanth. A photo from the set showed her getting ready for the shoot, signaling the start of her work on the highly anticipated film. Shruti plays the character Preethi, as revealed in a recent character introduction poster.
This marks her first collaboration with Rajinikanth and her debut with director Lokesh Kanagaraj. While they have worked together before on the 2023 song Inimel, Coolie is their first feature film project together. In addition to Rajinikanth, Shruti joins an ensemble cast that includes Nagarjuna Akkineni, Soubin Shahir, Upendra, and Sathyaraj. Though specifics of her character remain a mystery, the poster suggests an action-oriented role.
Coolie began production in July and is set to release in Tamil, Hindi, Telugu, and Kannada. On the technical side, the film features music by Anirudh Ravichander, cinematography by Girish Gangadharan, editing by Philomin Raj, and stunts by Anbariv. The dialogues are penned by Lokesh Kanagaraj and Chandhru Anbazhagan, who also contributed to the screenplay. Produced by Kalanithi Maran under the Sun Pictures banner, Coolie has no official release date as of yet, but anticipation continues to build for this high-profile project.
