As the release of RJ Balaji’s highly anticipated film Sorgavaasal approaches, the makers have dropped the first trailer, offering a peek into the intense, gritty world of prison life. Directed by debutant Sidharth Vishwanath, a former assistant of Pa Ranjith, Sorgavaasal is set against the backdrop of 1999 Chennai, where the narrative unfolds inside a high-security jail.
The trailer, running just over two minutes, delves deep into the harsh realities of the convict world. It opens with law enforcement officers reacting to an incident of great magnitude, though its details remain shrouded in mystery. The storyline hints that RJ Balaji’s character is willing to go to any lengths to secure an elusive key, navigating through a violent underworld where he faces constant threats and brutality from fellow inmates.
The trailer also introduces Selvaraghavan as the powerful and feared Siga, whose commands resonate with the inmates. Karunas portrays a wise police officer who cautions Balaji about the dangers of crossing paths with the convicts. Balaji Sakthivel plays Bashir, a cook in the jail’s canteen, adding further complexity to the story. The film promises to bring together these characters in a thrilling, suspense-filled drama.
'Sorgavaasal' also stars a talented ensemble cast including Natty, Saniya Iyappan, Sharaf-U-Dheen, Hakkim Shah, Anthonythasan, Ravi Raghavendra, and Samuel Robinson. The film is written by Thamizh Praba, Ashwin Ravichandran, and Sidharth Vishwanath.
The technical team behind the film includes music by Christo Xavier, cinematography by Prince Anderson, editing by Selva RK, and art direction by S Jayachandran. Produced by Think Studios and Swipe Right Studio, Sorgavaasal is set for release on the same day as Miss You, starring Siddharth and Ashika Ranganath. The gripping trailer and the dark, tense atmosphere of the film promise an exciting cinematic experience.
