Production for Vijay's much-anticipated 69th and final film has officially kicked off with a traditional pooja ceremony. The movie, tentatively titled Thalapathy 69, brings together a stellar cast and crew. Vijay, along with actors Bobby Deol, Pooja Hegde, Narain, and Mamitha Baiju, were present at the ceremony, accompanied by the film’s director H Vinoth and producers Venkat K Narayana, Jagadish Palanisamy, and Lohith NK of KVN Productions.
The cast also includes celebrated actors Prakash Raj, Gautham Vasudev Menon, and Priyamani, making it an ensemble production. While it’s the first time Bobby Deol, Priyamani, Mamitha, and Narain are working with Vijay, it marks a reunion with actors like Prakash Raj (after Varisu), Pooja Hegde (after Beast), and Gautham Vasudev Menon (after Leo).
Anirudh Ravichander has been confirmed as the film’s music composer, but further announcements regarding the rest of the technical crew are expected soon. Plot details remain under wraps, but reports suggest the film is a political drama, with the tagline hinting at it being the "torch bearer of democracy."
Vijay recently confirmed his plans to step into politics, launching his party Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam and unveiling its flag. Following Thalapathy 69, Vijay will retire from acting to focus on his political career. This highly-anticipated project is set to be his last on-screen performance.
