Viduthalai 2, the highly anticipated second part of Vetrimaaran’s social drama, is scheduled for release on December 20. The filmmakers have announced that the first single, titled "Dhinam Dhinamum," composed by the legendary Ilaiyaraaja, will be released on Sunday, November 17.
The film picks up from where the first part left off, exploring more of the character of Perumal Vathiyar, portrayed by Vijay Sethupathi, a role that was only briefly glimpsed in the first installment. The dubbing process for the film has already begun, and the film is expected to continue addressing themes of police brutality, as seen in the first part.
Viduthalai Part 1, which was released last year, garnered positive reviews and was praised for its hard-hitting portrayal of social issues. While much of Viduthalai Part 2 was shot alongside the first film, the remainder of the filming and post-production work delayed its release.
The film stars Soori, Vijay Sethupathi, Chethan, Bhavani Sre, Gautham Vasudev Menon, Rajiv Menon, Ilavarasu, Balaji Sakthivel, Saravana Subbiah, and Munnar Ramesh, all of whom reprise their roles from the first part. The film is produced by Elred Kumar under the RS Infotainment banner and Vetrimaaran’s Grass Root Film Company. It has music by Ilaiyaraaja, cinematography by R Velraj, and editing by R Ramar.
Viduthalai 2 was recently screened at the Rotterdam Film Festival, generating further excitement for its upcoming release.
