In a significant move signaling his potential departure from cinema, actor Vijay hinted at dedicating himself entirely to politics during his inaugural political conference. Delivering an over 40-minute speech, Vijay suggested he might "hang up his boots" as an actor to focus fully on serving the people, declaring there’s "no looking back." He acknowledged that stepping into politics is a new journey for him, likening himself to a “toddler” learning to navigate challenges, but emphasized his commitment to taking this path seriously.
Vijay, whose career in cinema has been highly successful, shared that he felt compelled to leave it behind in order to make a meaningful impact on society. “There is no use in accumulating wealth endlessly,” he remarked, expressing a strong drive to focus on public welfare over personal success.
During his speech, Vijay outlined a series of foundational ideologies that he envisions for his political future. These include policies devoid of religious and caste biases, drawing inspiration from social reformers like Periyar but leaning toward Annadurai’s principle of “Ondre Kulam Oruvaney Thevan” (one community under one God). He also proposed establishing an administrative branch of the Tamil Nadu Assembly in Madurai, implementing a caste-based census to support proportionate reservation, advocating for a two-language policy, advancing gender equality within all levels of administration, and championing environmental preservation through the retrieval of marshlands.
With these bold commitments, Vijay has made it clear that his focus has shifted from cinema to a broader political vision, signaling a transformative new chapter in his career dedicated to social and political change.
