On Friday, it was reported that Allu Arjun was arrested by the Hyderabad police in connection with the tragic Sandhya Theatre stampede that occurred during the release of Pushpa 2: The Rule on December 4. The stampede, caused by a massive crowd gathered to catch a glimpse of the actor, led to the death of a 39-year-old woman and left her child with minor injuries. Allu Arjun was initially remanded to 14-day judicial custody, but due to a delay in issuing bail orders, he spent Friday night at Chanchalguda jail.
By Saturday morning, the actor was granted interim bail and released. Upon returning home, Allu Arjun shared an emotional moment with his family, including his wife Sneha, brother Sirish, and nine-year-old son Ayaan. In a statement to the media, he reassured his fans, saying, "I am safe. I am doing well, nothing to worry about." He addressed the stampede incident, stating, "I am a law-abiding citizen. I will cooperate with the authorities and do the needful." Allu Arjun also expressed his unwavering support for the deceased woman's family, vowing to assist them in any way possible.
The stampede occurred when Allu Arjun visited the Sandhya Crossroads Theatre for a premiere show of Pushpa 2: The Rule. The overwhelming crowd gathered to see the actor resulted in chaos, leading to the fatal incident. In response, a case was filed against Allu Arjun, his security team, and the theatre management under sections 105 and 118(1) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), which address culpable homicide not amounting to murder and intentional harm. A week ago, the Hyderabad police also detained the owner, manager, and security in-charge of Sandhya Theatre in connection with the incident.
The incident has raised concerns about crowd management during public events, and the authorities are continuing their investigation into the matter.
