Maa Kaali—The Erased History of Bengal is an upcoming historical drama that explores the tragic events surrounding Direct Action Day in 1946 Bengal, shedding light on the persecution of the Hindu community during the partition period. The film takes a bold approach to recount these painful chapters of history and the aftermath of violence in Bengal.

The film, directed by Vijay Yelakanti, stars Raima Sen and Abhishek Singh in the lead roles. Maa Kaali is set to have its world premiere at the International Film Festival of India (IFFI) 2024, marking a significant milestone for the project.

The teaser for Maa Kaali, released in July 2024, showcases the intense and harrowing events of the partition, including a powerful dialogue: “They will keep preying on us until either all of us Hindus convert to Islam or die.” The teaser presents a stark and uncompromising portrayal of the communal violence and forced conversions that occurred during that period, positioning the film as a hard-hitting exploration of a painful and often overlooked part of history.

Written and directed by Vijay Yelakanti, Maa Kaali is produced by TG Vishwa Prasad under the banner of People Media Factory in collaboration with Vivek Kuchibotla. The film is set to release in Telugu, Hindi, and Bengali, though the exact release date has yet to be revealed. With its intense subject matter and bold storytelling, Maa Kaali is expected to generate significant attention both at IFFI and beyond.
