Mr. Bachchan, featuring Ravi Teja, has made its debut on Netflix, just four weeks after its theatrical release on August 15. The action drama, which generated considerable pre-release buzz, failed to meet box office expectations, leading to its early digital release. Despite being a high-profile release, the film's performance was lackluster, prompting its quiet arrival on the OTT platform.
The film is available for streaming in Telugu, Tamil, Kannada, and Malayalam. Netflix acquired the OTT rights of the film for a substantial sum, but the lackluster box office performance led to an unceremonious release on the platform.
Mr. Bachchan is a Telugu adaptation of the 2018 Hindi film Raid, starring Ajay Devgn. While the original film was a commercial success, the Telugu version, directed by Harish Shankar, did not achieve the same level of success. Ravi Teja's performance received praise, but the film’s romantic subplot and emotional depth did not resonate with audiences.
Post-release, the film’s failure led to considerable drama. Producer Vishwa Prasad was rumored to have blamed the director for the film’s poor performance, although he later clarified that his comments were misinterpreted. Reports also emerged that Ravi Teja and Harish Shankar returned part of their remuneration to help offset the producer's losses.
